Out of the ash, I rise with my red hair, and I eat men like air.

Wow, it feels so good to realize it's not all in my head.
Yet, it kills me knowing the old you is dead.

But it's easy to forget. It's in the past.

Update: perhaps it's not that easy.

Study Break.

What do I do on my study breaks?  Eat a banana while watching videos of Journey to make to feel better, naturally.

Time to get back to William Dunning and Pictorial Space, blah.

First Day of School.

I miss the days when school was all phonics, coloring, and recess.  I also admittedly miss the uniforms.

Today I have class from 12-9pm. straight through. I'm a sophomore in college now. It's time to wake up and take control of my future and be completely responsible for myself.

I just wish I could still come home and watch the Magic School Bus!

all too true.

Jesus, I’m not going to be one of those people who sits around talking about what they’re gonna do. I’m just going to do it. Imagining the future is a kind of nostalgia. … You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you’ll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present.

This is it.

The day i've been day dreaming about all summer is finally here. I finally move back to the city, for good.

I leave in a week (I CANNOT WAIT) but I can't seem to bring myself to start packing.  I'm just so lazy I want to pay people to pack for me, want $50 bucks someone?  Whenever I have something on my mind or to look forward to I can't seem to get anything else done until then.
In other news, I'm loving this photoshoot.

Cut Your Hair & Dance Like Morrissey.

This video only reinforces my love for Morrissey.  Also the school children made me chuckle.

Squeeze Her, Don't Tease Her, Never Leave Her.

I'm pretty sure I cried at one point because I realized I would never be able to marry Duckie Dale (and the fact that it was Jon Cryer, who had moved on to do Two and a Half Men).
But I still get really giddy whenever I watch this video.

It's the weekend!! PARTY HARD...

I am doing so with my sweet new tat, and heart stick on earrings, compliments to the girl's bathroom at Regal Cinema.

It's our last day at the beach!! Time to go bake in the 'sun' and ride some waves (aka float on my boogie board).

This Week Defined.

back in high school, on a beach trip with jen, liz & annie. time does fly.

1. coffee. and lots of it. with coffeemate creamer.
2. uneven tans (still hoping it clears up so i can even it out!)
3. overcoming my distaste for waves (i ended up having the best time in the ocean)
4. finally deciding on a tattoo. now to research places & get an appt.
5. being called Henny again. it's like a trip back to high school.
6. having this week feel so isolated and not thinking about the next week, which I'm sure will be jam-packed with work, but knowing that I get to go back to school in just 2 weeks. (where has the 4 month summer gone to?)
7. sweet tea. one reason i've come to love South Carolina.
8. A&E, wife swap, intervention & hoarders.
9. morning & night laptop sessions (i wish i could take a picture of the 4 of us on our laptops right now hahah)
10. coffee, yes I've had that much of it.

for everyone i'll be seeing back in the city in less than a month. i cannot wait.

Saturday, August 8, 2009

don't leave me high; don't leave me dry.

'she looks like the real thing
she tastes like the real thing.'

it's August 8th. uh oh.
i'm terrified the past will soon repeat itself.

we like the same things & i like your style.

ok, i lied, another post related to 500 days of summer.  But this is just too good to pass up.  I had heard about this, but finally saw it thanks to Saznin.
Plus I love how it's set to my favorite She & Him song.

I've become obsessed with pictures of beds and lounges, i guess thats what i have on my mind.
In other news i'm completely in love with Bill Clinton right now for going to North Korea & helping rescue those journalists, it kind of made me rethink combat photography, knowing Bill Clinton will be there to save me (you know, if i happen to work for Al Gore's TV station).

youda youda best;best i ever had.

self improvement month has begun.
i'm most proud of my nails, which have never been this long. it's been 2 weeks since i bit them!

trying not to eat in front of the tv. it's harder than it sounds.

tone it up. i've gotten too lazy lately, and its time to shape up. it's only fitting since it was the august before my soph. year in high school that I started xc.

enough about me. this week has also been about new music. new modest mouse!
pitchfork informed of this video. watch. it's creepily good.

"somedays arent yours at all, they come and go like their some one elses days, they come and leave behind some elses face and its harsher than yours."

-somedays, regina spektor

after listening to Regina Spektor all night last night, i feel way too contemplative today.  Her lyrics just sort of stick with me all day long, today being one of them.  And what better to pair this quote with my best friend Emily's pictures, maybe it's because she loves Regina as well, but her pictures seem to go quite well with Ms. Spektor's songs.

Let her know what you think, by the way.

Love you Emily (and your work), this one's for you!

Going Mad.

Spending my day off watching Mad Men & creating new salads.
is it bad that I imagine Don Draper and Betty Draper as what my grandparents were like in '60s?  The cocktails and lipstick is what does it.

I want Paris.

i know these sofia coppola pictures have been everywhere lately, but taking a second look at them really makes me antsy to visit France, or even Europe in general, sometime soon.  I love the elegant simplicity of that city, and the macarons help too.

Monday, July 27, 2009

gotta love the '60s.
beware ham sammies!

Saturday, July 25, 2009

Spent my day outside reading, eating a veggie burger on toast with hummus, basil, and tomato, with cucumber water, getting a tan.  Time for a bike ride before work.

Last post about this movie, I swear...

love this NPR interview with Mark Webb, director of '500 Days of Summer.'
I think it's genius he gave the actors iPods with music clueing them in to the mood needed for the scenes of that day.

"I think we all can relate to this idea that, when someone likes the same music you do, it can be a very powerful thing," Webb says.

ha, tell me about it.
